I manually imported all those posts... never again.

I imported all those posts that were in the wget dump from December 2005 one by one by hand and then linked the parent ids and thread activity... It was some mind numbing work.

If I come across anymore stuff like this or maybe from archive.org I'm writing a Python script to do it. haha

Anyway... you can see the imported old posts towards the end of the post history starting with "The body of this post is wrong" on page 22 (will obviously change as newer posts get added).

    • Of the board I apparently took on 2005-12-29. I'm not really sure why I did it. Maybe it was a wget test? I have the thread bodies too but they're not linked. Maybe I should import them into this site just to have them for the heck of it. Upload the index page as it takes up little space:... more

It was well worth the time to import.
          • Well worth the time to import. Haha. But seriously, I also thought it was interesting when I saw the "Forces" post. What are the chances that the Hobby Lobby post and that one just so happened to be on the random one page snapshot I had buried in a hard drive backup from 16 years ago? It also ... more

Maybe I missed that somewhere. I think that was a concern. Retna's board and mine and Joe's got deleted because the NEMB was just so awesome.

https://nediscapp.herokuapp.com/discussion.cgi?disc=46108&article=37296&page=23 Retna's and Joe's board might have disappeared before the PHP2BB boards, but I think yours was around until then, no?
                • It might have been... When did I get real hosting? - Puckdropper, Mon May 03 2021 12:31am
Um, 2016 with Inmotion Hosting, but I had someone else before that. Maybe it was the Godaddy reseller account? I'm pretty sure it was gone when I had real hosting. I'll say it was gone between 2001 and 2005. Oh and I moved the thread up... We should randomly like once a random number of mon... more

puckdroppersplace.us? I sort of remember there was a lapse or something that happened which caused you to get a different domain name... but maybe I'm thinking of something different than your hosting site changing. Glad to see the thread activity worked on those old threads. I just set them to t... more
                    • Yeah, it might have been at that time. - Puckdropper, Tue May 04 2021 12:39am
I'd have to pull the whois up to see how long I've had puckdroppersplace.us. I think the guy gave me puckdroppers.us when I couldn't use the puckdroppersplace.tk domain (now dead) to redirect to the webspace he gave me. When he disappeared, the registration eventually expired, and I had to get m... more

I guess the guy got some new e-mails or something... or I've also seen 18-year old kids with a good heart and some ideas but life takes them some other way. (He strikes me now as a young kid type.) The original guys, Peter Holowaty and Stephen Pearce gave up UCL and we rebuilt it. Our mistake w... more

Retna's assessment of Hobby Lobby is still right! Except the ladies were a bit younger at my local one... Or did I notice when the middle-aged ladies weren't that much older than me?
      • Yeah it's still spot on to this day. - Erik_, Thu May 07 2020 4:16pm
My wife loves that store so I've been dragged there more than I would have liked. haha (well, not so much lately...)
