Newton Earp

Just an FYI before you get Roy's book. Newton was actually the oldest of Nicholas P. Earp's children.

Nick was married 1st to Abigail Storm. Newton was their 1st child. They had another child a girl Mariah, but both mother and daughter died that same year, 1839.

The next year Nick remarried to Virginia Ann Cooksey. Virginia Ann is the mother of the rest of Nick's kids:
Martha dy
Virginia Ann dy

Adelia is the only daughter to reach adulthood.

I know very little else about Newton. He fought in the civil war, lived in Lamar, and Garden City, married, had lots of kids, and died the month before Wyatt in December 1928. I am really looking forward to finding out all that Roy has dug up about this big brother to all the other Earp kids.

Oh, one other thing about Newton, he seems to be the only one of the brothers to sport a full beard like their father.

I am so looking forward to Roy Young's book. I have several others of his, and he never disappoints.

Roy. So looking foward to the Newton book. I love the stories about the whole family, even the "quiet" times, which IMO tell far more about them than the shoot em ups. Thanks again, Gail
