I think you are as right as anyone can be at this time about Kate. I just am not convinced she was an habitual drunk. There's no record I know of that suggests it. We will likely never know unless one of those tidy tidbits come up one day. But it seems clear she was pretty disappointed in Doc.
Anything concrete on the story Doc headed to Charlottesville looking for Billy Clanton after the stage debacle? It sounds like gossip but does coincide with Doc's approach toward Billy in Tombstone the day of the fight. And all three of the Earp bunch seemed bent on finishing off Billy though he was in poor position to be a real threat at the time he went down.
I think the only absolute conclusion one can draw based on the contemporary record is that Kate got drunk and swore out the affidavit accusing Doc of participation in the attempted robbery and murder.... more
